Americanized Kimono and Scarves Day 1

Today, I made an "Americanized Kimono" as part of a series of commissioned clothing that I was asked to make. The commission I received is for unique accessories including "Americanized Kimonos", and scarves. There may or may not be more items asked for in the future. The original "kimono" that got me the job is the striped one that I got the idea off of "Pinterest", and made for a gift. I have changed the pattern however to fit the aesthetic of the fabric.

The "kimono" takes around four hours to make due to the fact that I currently do not own a serger and have to use a mock french seam and french seams to make sure the edges do not fray. One may recognize the aqua blue kimono's fabric from the mermaid apron as it is also from the same piece of fabric. I try to be conscientious in the clothes I make often by either up-cycling, buying second hand, or using scrape from previous projects.

The scarf on the other hand I just did a basic machine edge stitch. I left a slight fray, but made sure it would not fray away on the scarf to give it a "homemade bohemian chic" style.

I currently also have another scarf that was sewn today in a bucket of dye, which should be ready tomorrow. It should have a light tea or light coffee color brown stain once it is done. It is also from up-cycled material.

Here are some close ups of the Stitches:
