Mermaid Apron

Today, I spent part of the day making an up-cycled mermaid inspired apron.

The apron was made from an old curtain and some scrap fabric. The idea came from my younger sister saying it would make a great mermaid tail. At first, I thought about making a "mermaid" tail, then I thought of my project that I am working on to design and a crafting apron for myself. I decided to try making some shapes and sewing around them. I also tried to make sew embroidery on my sewing machine and discovered that the tip to use a hoop is definitely a tip I will use in the future. I looked at some photos from the "Little Mermaid" as inspiration for the fish and fork. The apron is made without a pattern. I have been told that for mermaids a fork is called a "dinglehopper", so I added it. Overall this was a very fun project, and I think I may do more like it in the future.

The following are some process photos;
